1. Kiến thức cơ bản cần nắm về thì quá khứ đơn

Thì quá khứ đơn (Past simple tense) là thì được dùng để diễn tả các hoạt động, sự việc đã diễn ra và hoàn thành trong quá khứ.

1.1. Công thức thì quá khứ đơn (Past simple tense)

Để hoàn thành các bài tập thì quá khứ đơn dạng chia động từ, các bạn cần nắm được cấu trúc thì quá khứ đơn dạng khẳng định, phủ định và nghi vấn. Cụ thể:

Với động từ thường

S + was/were + …

Phủ định

S + did not + V-inf + …

S + was/were not + …

Ví dụ:

Lưu ý về cách chia động từ trong quá khứ đơn

Với các động từ có quy tắc, chúng ta chỉ cần thêm đuôi -ed  vào sau động từ. Tuy nhiên các bạn cần lưu ý, các quy tắc thêm -ed nhé.

Ví dụ:

  • learn -> learned
  • worry -> worried
  • dance -> danced,…

Với các động từ bất quy tắc, các bạn sẽ cần học thuộc lòng dạng quá khứ của các động từ này trong bảng động từ bất quy tắc (Cột 2 – V2).

Ví dụ:

  • go -> went
  • find -> found
  • write -> wrote

1.2. Câu bị động với thì quá khứ đơn

Một dạng bài tập về thì quá khứ đơn rất thường gặp nữa đó là chuyển từ câu chủ động sang bị động. Để chinh phục dạng bài này, các bạn cần nắm vững công thức sau:

Khẳng định: S + was/were + Ved/V3

Phủ định: S + was/were + not + Ved/V3

Nghi vấn: Was/Were + S + Ved/V3…(by O)?

Khi chuyển từ dạng chủ động sang bị động ở thì quá khứ đơn các bạn cần lưu ý:

  • Tân ngữ (O) trong câu chủ động sẽ được chuyển thành chủ ngữ (S) trong câu bị động.
  • Động từ Tobe trong câu bị động (was/were) sẽ được chia phụ thuộc vào chủ ngữ của câu.
  • Biến chủ ngữ trong câu chủ động (S) thành tân ngữ (O) trong câu bị động và thêm “by”. Trong một số trường hợp chủ ngữ trong câu chủ động không xác định, bạn có thể lược bỏ chúng, ví dụ: by people, by them, …

Ví dụ:

Câu chủ động: They built the bridge in 2000.

=> Câu bị động: The bridge was built in 2000.

Câu chủ động: Did she make the cake?

=> Câu bị động: Was the cake made by her?
